Why would I use an AUTOMATIC sliding door closer?

• The AquaClose Water Door Closer is simply a great investment for any home with sliding security screen doors. An automatic closer will improve your family’s hygiene level by keeping germ carrying insects, flies, mosquitos and other vermin out of the home.

• An automatic closing security screen door is a most effective way of keeping young children from straying into an unfenced or unprotected pool area where accidental drowning is too frequently the cause of death. In conjunction with a conforming Pool Fence, Aquaclose is  widely used as an additional safety protection for at risk age children. (see our pool safety video here)

Does the AquaClose Water Door Closer conform to Australian Swimming Pool safety laws?

• In Australia, door closers as such are not specifically covered by any government regulations or Australian standards but doors giving access to a pool area ARE covered in AS2818 Clause 9.2.2. To be a conforming security or other door, the door must conform to state and local government laws and regulations. Typically, in respect of its automatic closing capabilities, a conforming door is required to automatically close and latch from rest at any opened position, from fully open to a position at rest against the latch. The Inventco Sliding Door Closer has been widely used throughout Australia for the last 10 years as one component used in the construction of conforming sliding doors in respect of Swimming Pool Safety Law compliance.

Discalimer: State laws vary widely throughout Australia. Check with your local council to ensure your planned pool security solution complies with state laws.

Can the AquaClose Water Door Closer close a glass door?

• The closer has been designed primarily for security screen doors. The closer can close many types of glass doors. However, because glass doors can vary so significantly in weight and size we cannot guarantee their effectiveness on ALL glass doors.

What colour is the Water Door Closer available in?

• The AquaClose Water Door Closer is manufactured in virtually every powder-coated Dulux colour. Special colours can be produced upon request.

What are the dimensions of the Water Door Closer?

• The AquaClose Door Closer is 1.85mtrs long (including pulley box), 25mm square tube with a 10mm flange for fixing.

How do I install the Inventco Water Door Closer?

• The AquaClose Water Door Closer is a simple installation, which can typically be completed within 10 minutes. Note however that although simple for a handyman to install, attention may need to be paid to the door itself, particularly older doors. Inventco recommends that experienced screen door installers fit the door closer. Click here for complete step by step installation instructions.

How long does the Water Door Closer take to shut a security door?

• Typically a 1200mm wide sliding security screen door will be closed in 4-7 seconds from the fully open position. If the door closes too fast the smaller of the two weights in the closer can be removed. If it closes too slowly a further small supplementary weight can be added but this should be done only after checking the door rollers and tracks for cleanliness and the door rubbing against the sides of tracks.

How much water does the closer require?

Fill the closer to within a few centimeters of the top. The closer will still operate perfectly well even when only half filled although the door may initially move more rapidly. If the overall closing time is too quick add water.

Does the water in the AquaClose Water Door Closer evaporate?

• Evaporation can occur, however our tests and experience in the field show that evaporation levels are NOT significant. There is only a small area in the pulley box through which evaporation can take place and the foam plastic pad fitted into the pulley box further limits evaporation. Note: DO NOT EVER USE POOL WATER to fill the tube. Pool water can be corrosive.

Can the water freeze in the tube?

• In areas where temperatures are likely to drop below freezing the addition of around 100-200ml of automotive radiator anti-freeze chemical to treat the water should avoid icing problems.

My AquaClose used to close my door...now it doesn't.

• The AquaCloser’s engine is its weights, which can never vary. Therefore the closing ‘grunt’/power never changes throughout the life of the closer. The most common reason a door stops closing satisfactorily is due either to the door rollers wearing down over time, or dust and/or pet hair packing into the door rollers. Cleaning or replacing the door rollers will fix this problem.
